Trust-based security for the OLSR routing protocol
نویسندگان
چکیده
The trust is always present implicitly in the protocols based on cooperation, in particular, between the entities involved in routing operations in Ad hoc networks. Indeed, as the wireless range of such nodes is limited, the nodes mutually cooperate with their neighbors in order to extend the remote nodes and the entire network. In our work, we are interested by trust as security solution for OLSR protocol. This approach fits particularly with characteristics of ad hoc networks. Moreover, the explicit trust management allows entities to reason with and about trust, and to take decisions regarding other entities. In this paper, we detail the techniques and the contributions in trust-based security in OLSR. We present trust-based analysis of the OLSR protocol using trust specification language, and we show how trustbased reasoning can allow each node to evaluate the behavior of the other nodes. After the detection of misbehaving nodes, we propose solutions of prevention and countermeasures to resolve the situations of inconsistency, and counter the malicious nodes. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our solution taking different simulated attacks scenarios. Our approach brings few modifications and is still compatible with the bare OLSR. 2013 Elsevier B.V. Secure Routing Protocol: Affection on MANETs Performance
In mobile ad hoc networks, the absence ofinfrastructure and the consequent absence of authorizationfacilities impede the usual practice of establishing a practicalcriterion to distinguishing nodes as trusted and distrusted.Since all nodes in the MANETs would be used as router inmulti-hop applications, secure routing protocols have vital rulein the security of the network. So evaluating the perf...
متن کاملA New Method to Reduce Energy Consumption in Manet Network Routing based on OLSR Protocol and Genetic Algorithm
Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANET) can be considered as a class of unstructured networks created by a number of autonomous wireless and sensor nodes. The inherent characteristics of such networks have made specific applications, such as multimedia transfer and challenging. Basically, the functionality of a node and very few resources directly affect the delivery of packets which depends on the ...
متن کاملImproving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...
متن کاملTrust-based Multipoint Relay Selection Algorithm for Enhancing Security in Mobile Adhoc Networks
Optimized Link State Routing (OLSR) is a in a popular proactive routing protocol for providing peer-to-peer transmissions in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). Since sensitive data are communicated in MANET, security remains a major issue. In this paper, we propose a trust based Multipoint Relay (MPR) selection algorithm for defending a specific type of denial-of-service (DOS) attack called node ...
متن کاملAn Ontological View of Trusted OLSR Protocol of Ad hoc Network
Ad hoc network infrastructure is dynamically changing, and the links are wireless with less capacity and more prone to errors. Adding trust to the existing security infrastructures would enhance the security of these environments. Describing components and their sub-components using ontologies, creates a methodology and mechanism in order to efficiently design. With a viewpoint to add trust as ...
